Before Arrival
International student who wishes to study at Polinema is required to come to Indonesia with Limited Stay Visa under the form of VITAS (single entry visa) upon arrival that later be upgraded into Limited Stay Permit or KITAS (multiple entry visa) in Malang Local Immigration Office. The limited stay visa usually valid 6 months, 1 year, or two-year stay.
Before international students can apply for VITAS, student should have to process for getting a study permit from the Ministry of National Education of Republic of Indonesia to be able to get TELEX Visa (approval of the Directorate General of Immigration to the Indonesian Embassies or General Consulate to issue certain visas to the applicant).
Documents required for application study permit procedure for the International Student (Issued by Polinema):
- Copy of Recommendation Letter from Polinema, addressed to the Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education.
- Copy of Acceptance Letter from Polinema (provided by students)
- Completed application form (Polinema form).
- Letter of Recommendation from Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) or Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in the country of residence.
- Copy of transcript academic record
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- 2 (two) recent close-up photograph (4×6 cm) with RED background
- Letter of Financial Guarantee to cover study and living expenses during your study or sponsorship certificate
- Health certificate from legal-practicing medical-doctor stating that the student is both physically and mentally capable to conduct the studies.
- 3 (three) copies of Passport.
Note: Study permit process will take 1 (one) month in the Ministry of National Education.
The coordination team of foreign study permit is giving approval recommendation to the Ministry of National Education. If the application of foreign study permit is approved, it will be submitted to the Immigration Head Office in Jakarta in order to precede visa authorization. After finishing the study permit process, then the process will continue at the Immigration Head Office-Jakarta to obtain the approval letter that will be needed to obtain the student visa. The Head Office of Immigration – Jakarta will send the approval letter to the Indonesian Embassy in your country of residence by telex visa.

- Copy of Acceptance Letter from Polinema and completed application form.
- Letter of Recommendation from Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) or Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in the country of residence.
- Copy of transcript academic record

Note:
- Approval of student visa process will take 2 (two) weeks after the study permit done at the Immigration Head Office – Jakarta. After the student visa approved by the Head Office of Immigration – Jakarta, they will send the letter of telex visa to the Indonesian Embassy or the Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia in student home country.
- It takes about 7 days for Immigration Head Office – Jakarta to send the telex visa to the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate General in student home country. After that, students are able to apply the visa depends on your period of study.
- The whole process to obtain limited stay visa / VITAS could take up to three months maximum.
- Any fees related to immigration matter is not covered by Polinema.
- The use of socio-cultural visa is not allowed for full degree student.
